Exploring the benefits of Nature Based Solutions; benefit 27/100

Skin aging results from a combination of internal and external factors. External contributors encompass excessive exposure to elements like wind, sunlight, air pollution, and smoking. Internally, stress, inadequate nutrition, and genetic predispositions also play a role. Telomeres, situated at chromosome ends, oversee DNA repair and replacement, crucial for skin maintenance and rejuvenation. These telomeres activate keratin production in the skin's outer layer, aiding in hair, nail, and skin development. However, as telomeres shorten with age, skin upkeep diminishes, leading to wrinkles and sagging. Studies on mice with drastically shortened telomeres exhibited slowed healing, skin ulcers, hair loss, and premature hair graying, similar to humans facing these conditions. Furthermore, shortened telomeres in humans are associated with conditions like liver fibrosis, aplastic anemia, acute myeloid leukemia, and pulmonary fibrosis.
